We all love trying the latest diets in a quest to skim some inches off our waistlines and get our bodies in shape for the latest fashion trends. One such diet is the paleo diet, which many people actually swear by. It consists of only eating food the way humans would have before agriculture was invented- the hunter and gatherer way.
While this may seem impressive and impossible, there are ways to enjoy even the sweetest and most decadent dishes, such as this paleo almond fudge! As long as you are not allergic to nuts or dates, you will love this dish. If you have a nut allergy, I’m sorry to say it but you may not want to be paleo- many of their foods are nut based to begin with.
Sugar is a serious no-no in the paleo world. The processed and refined taste can only be obtained from a farmed plant that is not allowed in the paleo diet.
However, we can still add some sweetness to the fudge with the help of an ingredient known as date syrup! Date syrup is a syrup similar to make maple syrup, only from the date fruit instead of the tree itself. Because this tree was found in the wild even before agriculture, this plant is still allowed. Through this logic, so is sugar, as sugarcane was also a plant before agriculture was invented…On second thought, let’s just eat whatever we want.
