I love cakes. While I’m not sure I believe in the concept of a soulmate, I firmly believe that there is a cake for every human in the world. Like people, cakes come in all shapes and sizes, and there’s sure to be one out there for everyone!
This caramel apple upside down cake will definitely be “The One” for at least some, with its delicious caramel and apple flavors. For others, it may just be a fall fling, encouraged by the seasonal coming of apples and caramel to form a sweet whirlwind romance. Whatever your relationship with this cake may be, it’s sure to be sweet while it lasts- so why not begin now?
In this recipe, you’ll get to make your own caramel sauce with a different ingredient than usual- brown sugar! Normally caramel is made with white sugar, but using brown sugar makes the caramel that much richer and delicious for you to appreciate.
If you’re feeling like spicing things up, add some extra cinnamon and nutmeg to the caramel to add just a little kick to each bite you take! Make sure you use granny smith apples- they’re perfectly tart and sweet, while holding up to all the pressures and heat that they face for you.
