Chinese Take-Out Dishes Can Be A Lot Healthier At Home

Kung Pao Cauliflower

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 lb cauliflower cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tbsp chili peppers chopped
  • 1 cup scallion chopped
  • 1 tspn ginger minced

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, water, and sugar and mix well until the sugar is completely dissolved. Reserve half the mixture for later.

  2. Add cauliflower and stir until evenly coated and let stand for 20 minutes.

  3. In another bowl, combine the reserved mixture and corn starch and mix well.

  4. In a pan or wok, grease with olive oil and cook cauliflower for 8 minutes on medium-high heat and remove.

  5. Grease the pan again with olive oil and add the chili, scallion, and ginger and saute for 1 minute then add the corn starch mixture to thicken.

  6. Add the cauliflower back to the pan and heat through. Serve and enjoy.
