Impress Them With A Perfectly Seared Buttery Strip Steak

Pan Seared Strip Steak

They say you can judge the character a steak aficionado by how they prepare a strip steak.

Ingredients

  • 2 New York strip steaks
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 thyme sprig

Instructions

  1. Generously salt and pepper both sides of the steaks.

  2. Heat a skillet on high heat. Add olive oil.

  3. Cook the steaks for 3 minutes on each side then lower heat to medium-low heat.

  4. Add the butter, garlic and thyme. Cook for 1 1/2 minutes, basting with the butter constantly.

  5. Turn off heat and let stand for 10 minutes.

  6. Cut into strips across the grain. Serve and enjoy.
