Italian And American Perfection

Italian And American Perfection

We all love cheeseburgers. The food that’s almost as American as apple pie, who can resist the sandwich (yes, a burger is a sandwich) filled with ground meat and a melty slice of cheese on top? It may sound impossible to top or improve, but we’ve found a way to do both with a cheeseburger gnocchi!

For those not in the know, gnocchi is a type of dumpling made of dough, usually with potato or semolina. They originated from Italy roughly, and are found throughout Italy with different names- though gnocchi is the name we all know them best for. They were first described in Roman times, where the Roman legions ate them as they expanded and conquered the European continent.

Traditionally, gnocchi is eaten with tomato sauce- but this recipe takes the tomato sauce and turns it into more of a ketchup flavor for the cheeseburger flavor. The gnocchi takes on more of a potato bread or bun role, while the ground meat isn’t served as a patty but rather a meat chunks spread throughout. This recipe allows you to fulfill your dreams and ideals of taking the perfectly balanced bite of meat, cheese, and starch- what’s not to love?
