Slow Cooker Cubanos
A flavorful sandwich requiring minimal effort.
Ingredients
Roasted Pork:
- 3 lb boneless pork butt roast trimmed
- 10 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon Homemade Seasoning
Homemade Seasoning:
- 1/4 cup fine sea salt
- 1/4 cup garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
Sandwich Assembly:
- 1 Cuban bread loaf or French bread loaf
- Prepared yellow mustard as needed
- 2 packages sliced Swiss cheese divided
- 2 cups sliced dill pickles
- 1 package thinly sliced ham
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions

Poke the pork shoulder all over with a knife.

Combine lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, garlic, oregano, cumin, and homemade seasoning.

Pour this all over the meat and set in the slow cooker. Cover and cook for 8-10 hours on low.

Remove the pork and tear into pieces. Discard the fat. Return to the slow cooker and let cook on high for 10-15 more minutes.

Slice the bread in half. Spread mustard on the bread. Layer the cheese on top and the pickles on the bottom half. Now, place a thick layer of ham and the pulled pork.

Brush the outside of the sandwiches with butter. Cook in a panini press or in a skillet until toasted.
