Ingredients

Roasted Pork:

  • 3 lb boneless pork butt roast trimmed
  • 10 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1/2 tablespoon Homemade Seasoning

Homemade Seasoning:

  • 1/4 cup fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper

Sandwich Assembly:

  • 1 Cuban bread loaf or French bread loaf
  • Prepared yellow mustard as needed
  • 2 packages sliced Swiss cheese divided
  • 2 cups sliced dill pickles
  • 1 package thinly sliced ham
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Poke the pork shoulder all over with a knife.
  2. Combine lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, garlic, oregano, cumin, and homemade seasoning.
  3. Pour this all over the meat and set in the slow cooker. Cover and cook for 8-10 hours on low.
  4. Remove the pork and tear into pieces. Discard the fat. Return to the slow cooker and let cook on high for 10-15 more minutes.
  5. Slice the bread in half. Spread mustard on the bread. Layer the cheese on top and the pickles on the bottom half. Now, place a thick layer of ham and the pulled pork.
  6. Brush the outside of the sandwiches with butter. Cook in a panini press or in a skillet until toasted.
  7. Serve and enjoy! 😀
