Making The Top Trending Pastry In NYC At Home

Dominique Ansel made bakery history in 2013 when he created the world’s greatest pastry – the cronut. This amazing confection is made of flaky layers like a croissant and shaped like a donut, hence is name.

To keep it from getting too dry and bland, Ansel made the ingenious move of piping chocolate cream inside the cronut itself, to get a layer of sweet cream to cut through all the flaky layers. While this pastry seems like a difficult challenge to get right, it’s much easier than it seems.

With this recipe, you can now make these ingenious inventions of pastry at home instead of waiting in a line in New York City. While this recipe features chocolate, this isn’t a necessary ingredient.

The cronut can be filled with all sorts of flavors that are only limited by your imagination. The original cronut produced at the bakery Dominique Ansel is made with a different flavor each month to explore the best one. If you like citrus, try key lime! More of a sweet tooth? caramel is a great filler!

Up for an adventure? Try mint or basil for a bright zingy twist in your sweets! If you’re still not satisfied, there’s always rose and lavender for a floral and sweet treat.
