Meet The Most Expensive Dessert

You might be thinking, how much would the most expensive dessert costs? The most expensive decedent dessert will set you back $1,500.

The Baccarat Hotel in New York offers the Bear Extraordinaire ice cream dessert that will be available through Labor Day, served in their Grand Salon. This dessert starts with house-made vanilla bean ice cream, covered in a white chocolate hand-painted shell (featuring colored cocoa butter). The bottom of the dish features a black truffle crumble that is made with 64% Manjari dark chocolate and Valrhona Gold cocoa nibs.

The colorful shell is enveloped with a Hibiscus champagne sauce, including citrus meringue and decorative fondant butterflies among angel hair sugar strands for toppings. They also add edible gold and sliver leafing for sparkling accents.

On of the most pricey elements of this dessert is the dish in which it is served. The presentation dish is a traditional porcelain vase that is used by The Baccarat with an added crystal glass bear-shaped top. Each of these figurines are individually numbers and signed by designer Jaime Hayon.

The sundae alone is $300 with the figurine display dish costing $1,200 if you would like to take it home. Some may think this is preposterous but this is not the first dessert with the cost in the four-figure range.

The famous indulgent ice cream shop Serendipity offers a $1,000 ice cream sundae. The Golden Opulence Sundae is made with special ingredients and needs to be ordered 48 hours in advance because this dish takes eight hours for assembling. This dessert is served in a $350 Baccarat crystal goblet that is lined with 23-karet gold leaf with an 18-karat gold spoon on the side.
