Fried ice cream- it sounds impossible, doesn’t it? Unless you’ve been to places such as the Texas state fair, known for deep-frying every food item on earth (hello fried butter, we’re looking at you!), or a carnival, you probably think this food item is a myth, impossible to create much less eat. We’re here to prove you wrong, and that this delicious food isn’t just a myth but a truly delicious sweet treat!
The trick to keeping the ice cream’s structure is by forming the balls, then freezing them a second time to ensure that the ball of ice cream doesn’t lose its shape. The chocolate that is kept in the center of the ice cream ball also helps to retain its shape and stay cold, as the chocolate is also frozen and will retain the cold better than the ice cream.
When it comes to the “breading” of the ice cream, the cereal works as a better coating than the traditional breadcrumbs, since there are larger chunks to provide a thicker layer of coating around the ice cream. If you’re not a fan of cinnamon, then most other cereals will also do the trick. Just make sure you don’t over-fry the ice cream before you eat, and you’ll have the perfect dessert on your hands!
