(Maybe don't actually eat these for breakfast, though.)
Make the yellow cake mix according to the directions on the box. Pour into cupcake cups leaving about 1 1/2 cups of the batter for later.
Bake cupcakes in oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20-25 minutes or until batter does not stick to a toothpick when poked into the middle of the cupcakes.
Preheat a waffle maker and pour about 1 tbsp onto one side of the of the waffle maker. Dip the top of the cupcake into the leftover batter and place on the poured in cake batter in the waffle maker until the batter is cooked through.
Serve topped with butter and waffle/pancake syrup.
