Orange Semifreddo

A delicious homemade Italian ice cream with orange cognac.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups mascarpone substitute with cream cheese
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 300 ml single cream
  • 2 orange zest
  • 75 ml orange cognac
  • 20 ml vanilla extract
  • 4 oranges

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, mascarpone, egg yolks, cream, zest of 2 oranges, cognac, and the vanilla extract. Mix well.

  2. Slice the oranges in half and juice using a cone juicer or scoop the flesh out leaving the peel intact. Pour the mascarpone cream into the orange peels to the edge and freeze for one or more hours.
