Apple Cake with Cinnamon Crumble
Melts in your mouth like warm butter.
Ingredients
- ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 oz. dried apple rings
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup plus ¼ cup sugar
- 1 cup apple butter
- 2¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon divided
- 1¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 2 large eggs room temperature
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a baking pan with butter or nonstick spray.

Chop dried apple rings into bite-sized pieces and set aside.

In a large bowl. whisk flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.

Now, beat together the butter and sugar until the butter absorbs the sugar. Add in the eggs and mix until smooth and light yellow.

Add vanilla and apple butter to the mixture and beat until incorporated.

Next, add the flour mixture and stir until the batter comes together. Fold in dried apple rings.

Spread evenly in a prepared pan.

In a small bowl, melt butter. Stir in the remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and sugar.

Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the cake batter.

Bake until the cake is cooked all the way through (insert a toothpick to test), about 65 minutes.

Set aside to cool.
