Buttermilk Biscuits

You better believe its everything you want in a biscuit.

  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk


  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
  2. Pour flour into a bowl.
  3. Using your fingers or a fork, add shortening and mix thoroughly until a crumbly texture.
  4. Drizzle in buttermilk, mixing until just barely coming together.
  5. Form into a ball and knead for 1 minute until a dough is formed.

  6. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut out biscuits with a round cookie cutter or using a glass.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
