Cilantro Lime Butter Sauce

There’s nothing better than some hot, fresh seafood with melted butter drizzled on top. Or is there? While nothing can beat fresh seafood, you can upgrade its sauce with this new and improved butter sauce!

In order to make this sauce, you’ll need the following:

  • 1 cup of butter, or two sticks
  • 1 or 2 shallots, peeled, washed, and diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, peeled, washed, and diced
  • 3/4 cup of cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • A pinch of salt

Directions:

First, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Once the butter is fully melted, add your shallots, garlic, and cilantro and stir.

After everything is incorporated, add in your honey, lime zest and juice, red pepper flakes, and salt. Stir everything a few more times over low heat to make sure everything is evenly distributed, then it’s ready to use!

The bright flavors of the lime highlight the shallots and garlic, while the honey gives sweetness to the sauce and the pepper gives just the right about of kick. Use this butter on shrimp, lobster, and squid! Not a seafood fan? Have no fear, this butter lends itself wonderfully to grilled vegetables such as zucchini and eggplant! This butter will even work well on proteins such as steak and chicken, so why not give it a try?
