Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Turn the oven up to 375 F. Stir the flour, baking soda, and baking powder together in a small bowl and set it aside.

  2. In a separate, larger bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until it becomes smooth, then beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredient mix. Scoop out rounded teaspoonfuls of the dough and roll them into balls. Place the balls onto ungreased cookie sheets. If you're feeling creative, you can shape the balls into spooky shapes, either with your fingers or cookie cutters.

  3. Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let the cookies stand on their sheet for two minutes before moving them to wire racks to cool.
