The best meal in the world usually consists of a good protein, some vegetables, and a starch to sop it all up. While there are many types, cuts, and flavors of proteins that can fill this void, there is one that is much more humble but can still rival them all- the ground beef.
It can be eaten on its own, such as the Vietnamese dish of larb, or eaten in a crispy bun with some vegetables, mayonnaise, and some good old fashioned ketchup. One of the best ways to eat it that is criminally underrated is in a salisbury steak.
While the salisbury steak is often confused with its cousin, the hamburg steak, both have different flavor profiles. The salisbury steak has a strong flavor of gravy, with mushrooms and onions that have been cooked and caramelised to the point they’re almost more sweet than savory in nature. In comparison, the hamburg steak is made of the same meaty combination similar in nature to a hamburger patty, but served with more ketchup.
The Salisbury steak is the perfect dish for when you want to eat a steak, but want a low-fuss meal without too much thinking. If you want to dress it up, add some mashed potatoes and green beans with your favorite gravy!
