These Breakfast Items Have More Sugar Than A Doughnut

July 5, 2018

A lot of health experts say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And contrary to belief, a lot of the breakfast foods you are fueling yourself with, are more sugary than a doughnut. Doughnuts are often considered the sugariest breakfast food you could eat, but there are many foods that are much worse. So make you steer clear of these foods and replace them with some healthier options!

Just as a reference, a Dunkin Donuts glazed doughnut has 260 calories and 12 grams of sugar. Here is how other foods compare.

A large Dunkin Donuts coffee with cream and sugar has 320 calories and 44 grams of sugar. That is about 4 times the amount of sugar than the doughnut. Starbucks 2% milk chai latte has 340 calories and 32 grams of sugar.
A bowl of Kellog’s Raisin Bran cereal is packed with around 190 calories and 18 grams of sugar. This is better than the coffee but still not better than the doughnut!

People believe that almond milk is really good for you. That being said, Silk Almond Milk has 80 calories and 13 grams of sugar. So opt for a different beverage to have with your breakfast.
Noosa blueberry yogurt has 31 grams of sugar and 280 calories. Instead of a flavored yogurt, try a plain yogurt and add your own fruit.

A small Jamba juice aloha pineapple smoothie may sound like a refreshing and healthy option, but with 67 grams of sugar and 310 calories it is not great choice.
So maybe one doughnut isn’t so bad…
