Ingredients

  • 1 can of chickpeas 15 oz
  • 1/4 cup of tahini
  • 1/4 cup of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2-3 tablespoons of water

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas in a colander under cold running water.
  2. Add chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, ground cumin, and salt in a food processor. Pulse until smooth.
  3. Add water one tablespoon at a time and continue to pulse until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. If the hummus is too thick, add more water.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary. Depending on your preference, you can add more salt, lemon juice, or cumin.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and smooth out the top. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkle with chopped parsley or paprika if desired.
  6. Serve with pita bread, crackers, or sliced vegetables.
