Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks semi-sweet or dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well incorporated.
  5. Mix in the mashed bananas, plain yogurt or sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips or chunks until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
  10. Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  11. After 10 minutes, carefully remove the bread from the pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
  12. Once cooled, slice the Chocolate Walnut Banana Bread and serve. Enjoy it with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee for a delightful treat!
