Ingredients

  • 4 slices center-cut bacon
  • 12 oz fresh prepared pizza dough room temperature
  • 2 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 1/3 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 oz hot Italian sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 2 oz burrata cheese torn into 5 pieces
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tps salt
  • 1 tsp small fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Place a pizza stone on middle rack of oven, and preheat oven to 500°F. (Do not remove pizza stone while oven preheats.)

  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place 2 bacon slices on prepared baking sheet, and shape into a heart by twisting slices and connecting ends. Repeat with remaining 2 bacon slices. Place on top of the pizza stone in the preheated oven, and bake until crisp, 12 to 13 minutes. Remove baking sheet from oven, and cool bacon until ready to use.

  3. Turn pizza dough out onto a large piece of parchment paper, and roll into a 12-inch heart shape, trimming end point, if needed. Brush dough with oil, and spread with pizza sauce, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle with sausage, and dollop with burrata.

  4. Transfer pizza and parchment to the hot pizza stone, and bake at 500°F until crust is golden about 5 minutes. Remove from oven, and place bacon hearts on top. Crack 1 egg into a custard cup. Using eggshell, scoop out the yolk and a little white, and gently place on a pizza, on the outside of 1 bacon heart. (Discard remaining egg white.) Repeat with remaining egg. Sprinkle entire pizza with salt.

  5. Return pizza to the oven, and bake until crust is charred, whites are set, and yolk is runny, 3 to 4 more minutes. Remove from oven, and sprinkle with basil. Serve immediately.
