Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 2 large eggs eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Turn the oven up to 375 F.

  2. Cream the shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar together in a medium mixing bowl, then stir in the eggs. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt, then stir that into the creamed mixture until well blended. In a separate small bowl, stir together the 2 tablespoons of sugar with the cinnamon. Roll dough up into balls about the size of a walnut, then roll those around in the cinnamon-sugar. Place the balls onto an unprepared cookie sheet, at least two inches apart.

  3. Bake the ball in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are slightly brown. Take the cookies off the sheets and let them cool on wire racks.
