Ingredients
¼cupbutter
116 ounce package sliced mushrooms
salt to taste
¼cupall-purpose flouror as needed
1quartbeef stock
1pinchground black pepper to taste
1pinchfresh thyme leavesto taste
Instructions
Heat up a saucepan over medium heat. Heat the butter in there until it gets foamy, then stir in the mushrooms and season with salt. Let the mix simmer until the liquid evaporates, about 20 minutes.
Stir the flour in, cooking and stirring for about 5 minutes. Add about 1 cup of beef stock and stir it briskly until it's completely incorporated. Pour in the rest of the stock and mix thoroughly. Season the mix with black pepper and thyme to taste. Turn the heat down to medium-low, and let the gravy simmer until it's nice and thick, about 30 minutes, stirring often.
