Caramel Sour Apple Jell-O Shots

Sour apple is a beloved candy flavor, made all the better by the inclusion of caramel. But as they say, candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker. Here is the recipe for some delightfully sour caramel apple Jell-O shots.

Total Time 3 hours 20 minutes

Ingredients

The Green Apple Layer

  • 7 green apple Jolly Ranchers
  • 1 1/4 c. vodka
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 .25-oz. envelope unflavored powdered gelatin
  • 1/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. Sour Apple Pucker

The Caramel Layer

  • 1 c. apple cider
  • 1 .25-oz. envelope unflavored powdered gelatin
  • 1 c. caramel vodka
  • 1/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 c. caramel
  • 1 green apple thinly sliced

Instructions

The Green Apple Layer

  1. Place the Jolly Ranchers in a mason jar and pour the vodka over them. Secure the lid and give it a good shake. Put the jar in the fridge until all of the Jolly Ranchers have dissolved into the vodka, which should take about 2 hours. Run the vodka through a strainer afterward just to make sure there are no candy bits left.

  2. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, boil the water. Turn off heat and add the gelatin, whisking it in. When it's combined, pour in the green apple  vodka, the sugar, and the Sour Apple Pucker. Whisk it all together.

  3. Fill each shot glass up about halfway with the mixture from the pan. Put them all in the fridge until the Jell-O sets, about another 2 hours.

The Caramel Layer

  1. Put a different saucepan over medium-high heat, and bring the apple cider to a boil. Turn off the heat and add the gelatin, whisking it in. When it's combined, whisk in the caramel vodka, sugar, and caramel.

  2. Pour the caramel mixture over the green apple layer in each shot glass. Put them all in the fridge one last time for, you guessed it, another 2 hours.

  3. When everything's nice and jiggly, garnish each glass with an apple slice. Enjoy in moderation!
