The best Onion Rings

If you love onion rings at a restaurant or bar, try making these at home! These crispy bits are great for the whole family!

Ingredients

  • 2 onion
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 c cornmeal
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into thin rings and separate.

  2. Pour buttermilk on top of the onions and place in fridge for 2 hours minimum.

  3. Take the flour, cornmeal, salt, and red pepper flakes and mix in a bowl.

  4. Heat oil in a pot to 360 degrees Fahrenheit.

  5. Coat the onion rings with flour mix.

  6. Fry the rings for 2 minutes, flipping them once.

  7. Use skimmer to remove onion rings when done cooking and place them on top of paper towels on a plate to cool

  8. Wait to cool, then serve and enjoy!
