Combine water, vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan on high heat. Bring it to a boil while stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool to room temperature, about an hour.
Place the mango slices in a clean quart-size jar and pour the vinegar mixture over them. Put the lid on and stick them in the fridge for 8 to 12 hours before serving.
