I wonder what they called the Old Fashioned when it was first invented.
Place a sugar cube in the bottom of a whiskey glass. Add the bitters and muddle until well combined.
Add ice and pour over the whiskey. Stir until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
Squeeze the orange peel over the glass to release the oils. Place a flame over the orange oils for a caramelized flavor if you prefer.
Garnish with orange peel and a cherry.
