Deliciously tender beef chunks swimming in savory gravy.
Heat up the oil in a big skillet on high heat. When it's hot, sauté the onion in it until it's just about clear.
Add in the beef and cook it on high until it's browned on all sides; about 3 to 5 minutes.
Pour 2 cups water, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce into the skillet, then stir in the garlic powder, salt and pepper. Bring everything to a boil and reduce the heat. Put a cover on the skillet and let the contents simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
While that's doing its thing, combine the gravy mix with the remaining cup of water. Mix it thoroughly and stir into the meat mix in the skillet. Bring to a boil one last time while stirring frequently until the sauce has slightly thickened. Serve over either egg noodles or white rice.
