1cupshredded cheddar cheesefeel free to mix in some mozzarella for extra melt
2tablespoonsmelted butter
1teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoononion powder
Salt and pepperto taste
Optional toppings: sour creamsalsa, jalapeños, or guacamole
Instructions
Prep the Doritos
Start by crushing the Doritos into fine crumbs. You can do this by placing them in a ziplock bag and smashing them with a rolling pin or by simply pulsing them a few times in a food processor. Aim for a coarse, yet even, texture—think breadcrumbs but with more flavor!
Prepare the Tortillas
Brush both sides of each tortilla with the melted butter. This will help the Dorito crumbs stick and give the tortilla a beautiful golden brown color as it bakes.
Coat the Tortillas
Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper evenly over both sides of each tortilla. Then, press the crushed Doritos onto both sides, ensuring the tortillas are fully coated. You want that crunchy coating to shine in every bite!
Bake to Perfection
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the coated tortillas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until the Doritos crust is crispy and the edges of the tortillas begin to turn golden brown.
Cheese Time!
Once the tortillas are perfectly crisp, take them out of the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of each tortilla. Return them to the oven for another 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve and Enjoy
Remove from the oven and cut the cheesy Dorito-crusted tortillas into wedges. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces—sour cream, salsa, or even guacamole—whatever you like to complement the cheesy crunch.
