Jalapeno Cheese Poppers

Ingredients

  • 8 fresh jalapenos
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1 half cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 quarter teaspoon salt
  • 1 quarter teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 half cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • Oil for frying or baking spray

Instructions

  1. Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and remove the seeds.
  2. Mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. Fill each jalapeno half with the cheese mixture.
  4. Coat the filled jalapenos in flour, then dip into beaten egg, and roll in breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat or prepare a baking tray with spray.
  6. Fry the poppers until golden and crisp, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 18 minutes.
  7. Remove and let them rest briefly before serving.
