Creamy Homemade Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 2 cups 480ml whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional toppings

  • Whipped cream
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk: In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until it is hot but not boiling.
  2. Mix cocoa and sugar: In a separate small bowl, combine the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Combine and stir: Add the cocoa mixture to the hot milk. Whisk continuously until the cocoa and sugar are fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add flavor: Stir in the vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
  5. Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or your preferred toppings. Serve immediately while warm.
