Course Sauce and Dips
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or regular milk for a less tangy flavor
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice or white vinegar for extra tang, optional

Instructions

  1. Combine the Base Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
  2. Add the Herbs and Spices: Stir in the dried dill, dried parsley, dried chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the herbs and spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Adjust Consistency and Flavor: Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning if needed. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add a bit more buttermilk. For a tangier flavor, add the lemon juice or white vinegar.
  4. Chill: Transfer the dressing to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together.
  5. Serve: Enjoy your homemade ranch dressing with salads, veggies, chicken wings, or as a dip for your favorite snacks!

Recipe Notes

Fresh Herbs: If you prefer using fresh herbs, you can substitute the dried herbs with fresh ones. Use about 1 tablespoon of fresh dill, parsley, and chives each.
Storage: Store the ranch dressing in the refrigerator. It should keep well for up to one week.
Variations: Feel free to experiment by adding other herbs and spices to suit your taste, such as paprika or cayenne for a bit of heat.
