Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.

Add the tapioca pearls to the boiling water and stir gently.

Cook the pearls for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface and are chewy in texture.

Remove from heat, cover the pot, and let the pearls sit for an additional 5 minutes.

Drain the pearls and rinse them under cold water.

If desired, toss the cooked pearls with brown sugar to add flavor. Set aside.
