Ingredients

  • 1 pound uncooked penne pasta
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vodka
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 3.5 ounce links sweet Italian sausage

Instructions

  1. First, let's boil up some pasta. Get a big pot full of lightly salted water boiling. Throw in the penne and let it cook for 8 to 10 minutes (or al dente, your call), then drain it out.

  2. Now for the sauce. In a big skillet, warm up the oil on a moderate heat. Take the casing off the sausage and add it to the skillet. While you're cooking, break up the meat until it's all browned. Add in the garlic and pepper flakes and continue cooking and stirring until the garlic turns golden brown.

  3. Add the tomatoes and salt to the skillet. When everything's boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

  4. Add the vodka and cream to the skillet and bring it back to a boil. Reduce the heat down to low and add your cooked pasta. Toss the pasta with the sauce for a minute, then stir in the parsley. All done!
