Say Bye Bye to Store-Bought Tzatziki

Tzatziki is the cool, creamy Greek dip that instantly elevates any meal. Made with yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and a touch of lemon, it’s fresh, tangy, and surprisingly simple to prepare. Perfect as a dip, spread, or side for grilled meats and pita.

How to Make Tzatziki at Home

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cucumber grated
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the cucumber

  1. Grate the cucumber using the fine side of a grater. Place it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towel and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. This keeps the tzatziki thick and creamy.

Mix the ingredients

  1. In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and dill. Stir until smooth and well blended.

Season and chill

  1. Add salt and pepper to taste. For the best flavour, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Serve

  1. Drizzle a little olive oil on top before serving. Enjoy with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or alongside grilled chicken, lamb, or falafel.
