Homemade Tonkatsu Sauce
This Japanese sauce goes perfect with fried dishes like its namesake, tonkatsu.
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mirin Japanese sweet wine
- 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic minced
In a mixing bowl, stir all of the ingredients together into a single, smooth sauce. Let the sauce sit for at least 30 minutes so the flavors can blend.
You can use the sauce immediately, though if you really want the best flavor, let the sauce sit in the fridge for a full day.
