Ingredients

  • 2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or your favorite chocolate
  • 1 cup hot cocoa mix store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • Optional: sprinkles edible glitter, or crushed peppermint for decoration

Instructions

Melt the Chocolate

  1. Start by melting the chocolate. Place your chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is smooth and shiny. Be careful not to overheat it—chocolate can be temperamental!

Coat the Molds

  1. Using a spoon or silicone brush, coat the inside of each mold cavity with a thick layer of melted chocolate. Ensure there are no thin spots, as you want your spheres to be sturdy. Pop the mold into the freezer for about 5-10 minutes to let the chocolate set.

Add a Second Layer

  1. Once the first layer has hardened, add another thin layer of melted chocolate for extra durability. Freeze again for another 5 minutes to set.

Fill the Bombs

  1. Carefully remove the hardened chocolate shells from the molds. Fill half of the spheres with a tablespoon of hot cocoa mix and a handful of mini marshmallows. You can also add fun extras like sprinkles or a pinch of crushed peppermint if you’re feeling festive.

Seal the Bombs

  1. Warm a small saucepan over low heat. Gently press the edge of an empty chocolate shell against the warm pan for a few seconds to melt the edge. Quickly place it on top of a filled shell, sealing the two halves together. You can use a little extra melted chocolate to smooth out the seam if needed.

Decorate!

  1. Now for the fun part—decorating! Drizzle melted chocolate over the bombs and sprinkle on some edible glitter, crushed candy canes, or festive sprinkles. Let your creativity shine!

Store or Serve

  1. Place your finished hot chocolate bombs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them set completely. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature until you’re ready to use them.
