Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread white, wheat, or sourdough—your choice
  • 4 strips of bacon crispy
  • 2-3 slices of ripe tomato
  • 1-2 leaves of crisp lettuce like romaine or iceberg
  • 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Optional: Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Cook the Bacon:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon strips until they’re crispy.
  2. Place the cooked bacon on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.

Toast the Bread:

  1. Lightly toast the slices of bread in a toaster or on a pan for a golden, slightly crisp texture.

Prepare the Tomato and Lettuce:

  1. Wash and pat dry the lettuce leaves.
  2. Slice the tomato into even, medium-thick slices. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on the tomato slices for extra flavor.

Assemble the Sandwich:

  1. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each toasted bread slice.
  2. On one slice of bread, layer the lettuce first (this prevents the bread from getting soggy).
  3. Add the tomato slices on top of the lettuce.
  4. Layer the crispy bacon strips over the tomatoes.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, mayo side down.

Serve:

  1. Cut the sandwich in half diagonally for easy eating.
  2. Serve immediately with your favorite side, like potato chips, a pickle, or a small salad.
