Apple crumble is one of those simple desserts that always feels comforting. The apples turn soft and slightly sweet as they bake, while the topping adds a golden, buttery crunch. It’s easy to put together with basic ingredients and fills the kitchen with a lovely aroma. Perfect for serving warm with a scoop of ice cream or on its own.

Apple Crumble

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 4 medium apples peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon flour

For the crumble topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and flour until well coated.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt for the topping.
  5. Add the cold butter cubes and rub them into the mixture using your fingers until it forms a crumbly texture.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden and the apples are soft.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.
