  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz triple sec
  • 1 oz mint simple syrup
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Ice
  • Salt or sugar for rimming the glass optional

For the Mint Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 bunch fresh mint leaves

  1. To make the mint simple syrup, combine water, sugar, and mint leaves in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes. Remove the mint leaves and allow the syrup to cool completely.
  2. Rim the edge of a glass with salt or sugar if desired.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, muddle a few mint leaves to release their flavor.
  4. Add ice, tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and mint simple syrup to the shaker. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  6. Garnish with additional mint leaves and serve.
