Cook Time 10 minutes
Ingredients
For the Donuts:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the Donut Maker: Preheat your mini donut maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you don't have a donut maker, you can use a mini donut pan and preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
-
Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
-
Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
-
Fill the Donut Maker or Pan: If using a donut maker, follow the manufacturer's instructions for adding batter. If using a donut pan, spoon the batter into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the mini donut molds, filling each about two-thirds full.
-
Bake the Donuts: Close the donut maker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. If using a donut pan, bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
-
Prepare the Glaze: While the donuts are baking, prepare the glaze. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.
-
Glaze the Donuts: Once the donuts are done and slightly cooled, dip each donut into the chocolate glaze, ensuring they are evenly coated. Place them on a wire rack to let any excess glaze drip off.
-
Serve and Enjoy: Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes, and then serve these delightful mini chocolate chip donuts to your kids. They are best enjoyed fresh!
