Ingredients
- 8 slices of your favorite bread white, whole wheat, or sourdough
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Optional: Sliced tomatoes cooked bacon, or caramelized onions for extra flavor
Instructions
-
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the shredded sharp cheddar, mozzarella, crumbled feta, and grated Parmesan cheese. Toss them together until well mixed.
-
In a separate small bowl, mix the softened butter with Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir until the ingredients are well combined.
-
Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread a generous amount of the seasoned butter mixture on one side of each slice.
-
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
-
Place four slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet. Distribute the cheese mixture evenly over the slices. If desired, add sliced tomatoes, cooked bacon, or caramelized onions on top of the cheese.
-
Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
-
Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted to gooey perfection.
-
Once the sandwiches are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a minute before slicing.
-
Cut each sandwich diagonally and serve immediately, allowing the cheese to ooze out deliciously.
