Homemade Burger Buns
Super-soft buns for burgers of any shape or size.
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup butter
- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 .25 ounce package instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 egg
Instructions
-
Heat the milk, water and butter in a small saucepan to 120 F.
-
In a big bowl, mix 1 3/4 cup flour together with the yeast, sugar and salt. Mix the heated milk mixture into the flour mixture, then mix in the egg. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, making sure to beat well with each 1/2 cup. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead it for about 8 minutes. The dough should be smooth and rubbery.
-
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape them into balls, and place them on a greased baking sheet, pressing down slightly to flatten them a little. Put a cover over the sheet and let the bread rise for 30 to 35 minutes.
-
Bake the buns in the oven at 400 F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
