Nashville Chicken Tenders

Ingredients

For the chicken

  • 500 g chicken tenders
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 half teaspoon black pepper

For the coating

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 half teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 half teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste

For frying

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Nashville sauce
  • 1 half cup frying oil from the pan
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 half teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken tenders in a bowl with buttermilk, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently, cover, and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and coat each piece evenly in the flour mixture. Press lightly so the coating sticks well.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the chicken tenders in batches until golden brown and fully cooked, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a wire rack or paper towel.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the hot frying oil with cayenne pepper, brown sugar, paprika, and garlic powder until smooth.
  6. Brush the warm sauce generously over the fried chicken tenders.
  7. Serve hot on its own or with pickles and bread on the side.
