Air Fryer Chicken Calzone
Chicken-packed calzones made crispy in the air fryer.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- ¼ cup red onion finely chopped
- 3 cups baby spinach leaves
- ⅓ cup low-sodium marinara sauce
- ⅓ cup cooked chicken breast shredded
- 6 ounces prepared pizza dough
- ⅓ cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- cooking spray
Instructions
-
In a nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 2 minutes. Stir in the spinach and put a cover on the skillet. Let it cook until wilted, about 1 1/2 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and stir in the marinara and chicken.
-
Preheat the air fryer to 325 F.
-
Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece on a lightly floured surface into a 6-inch circle, then spread 1/4 of the spinach mix over the bottom half of each circle. Top those with 1/4 of the mozzarella cheese. Fold the dough over the filling to make a half-circle, crimping the edges to seal. Coat each calzone well with cooking spray.
-
Place the calzones in the air fryer basket and cook for 8 minutes. Turn the calzones over and continue to cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes more.
