Spicy Margaritas are a delightful twist on the classic cocktail, combining the refreshing flavors of lime and tequila with a kick of heat. Here’s a recipe to help you make these delicious drinks at home:

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila use a good-quality tequila for best results
  • 1 oz triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup adjust to your preferred sweetness
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper adjust to your spice preference
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime slices or wedges for garnish
  • Tajín chili powder for rimming the glass optional

Instructions

  1. If you like a salted rim, start by moistening the rim of your glass with a lime wedge. Then dip the rim into a plate of salt or Tajín chili powder, rotating it to coat the edge.
  2. Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill it while you prepare the cocktail.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, triple sec or orange liqueur, freshly squeezed lime juice, and simple syrup.
  4. Add the cayenne pepper to the shaker. Start with a smaller amount and taste as you go; you can always add more to achieve your desired level of spiciness.
  5. Fill the shaker with ice cubes, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds.
  6. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  7. Garnish with a lime slice or wedge.
  8. Optionally, you can add a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper on top of the drink for an extra pop of spice and presentation.
  9. Stir gently with a cocktail stirrer or straw before sipping to ensure the flavors are well-mixed.
