Watermelon Margaritas
The naturally refreshing flavor of watermelon combined with a hit of tequila.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 strips orange zest
- 2 cups cubed seeded watermelon
- 3/4 cup white tequila
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- salt or sugar for rimming glasses optional
- 1 lime cut into wedges
- 2 cups crushed ice or as needed
Instructions
-
Get the sugar, water, and orange zest boiling in a small saucepan while stirring constantly. Let it simmer until sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes. This will serve as your simple syrup. Take that mix off the heat and let it cool completely.
-
Pulse the watermelon in a blender/food processor until it's pureed.
-
Stir the watermelon puree into a large pitcher along with the simple syrup mixture, the tequila, and the lime juice.
-
Now to prep glasses. If you don't care about presentation, feel free to skip this step. Place a bit of salt/sugar into a saucer. Rub the edges of your margarita glasses with a lime wedge to get them moist, then lightly dip the rims of the glasses into the saucer to get a salt/sugar rimming. Make sure to tap off excess salt or sugar.
-
Fill the glasses with crushed ice and pour your margarita mix in. Garnish with lime wedges to serve.
