Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz. 15ml vodka
  • 1/2 oz. 15ml rum
  • 1/2 oz. 15ml tequila
  • 1/2 oz. 15ml gin
  • 1/2 oz. 15ml triple sec or Cointreau
  • 3/4 oz. 22ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz. 30ml simple syrup or sugar syrup
  • 1 oz. 30ml cola or Pepsi
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slice for garnish
  • Fresh mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass with ice cubes.
  2. Add the vodka, rum, tequila, gin, triple sec, lime juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  3. Shake the mixture vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to combine all the ingredients and to chill the drink.
  4. Strain the mixture into a highball glass filled with ice cubes. If you don’t have a strainer, simply use the shaker's lid to pour the drink into the glass, leaving the ice behind in the shaker.
  5. Top the drink with cola or Pepsi. The cola gives the Long Island Iced Tea its characteristic color and some added sweetness.
  6. Garnish the cocktail with a lemon slice and, if you like, some fresh mint leaves.
  7. Serve and enjoy responsibly!

Recipe Notes

• You can adjust the amount of each liquor to your liking. If you prefer it stronger, add more vodka, rum, tequila, or gin. Conversely, if you prefer a milder taste, you can decrease the amount of liquor in the recipe.
• The triple sec is essential to this drink, but you can substitute it with Cointreau or Grand Marnier if you prefer.
• If you don’t have simple syrup, you can make it by dissolving one part sugar in one part hot water, then cooling the mixture before using it in the drink.
• Be careful when drinking Long Island Iced Tea as it contains a high amount of alcohol. Drink responsibly and know your limits.
